Abstract The aim of this study was to standardize the Symptom Checklist 90-R on a sample of Taibah University students. To reach to this goal, the researchers used the survey methodology. First, they translate the checklist into Arabic Language and modified its items in accordance with Arabic environment without change the psychological meaning. After that, the researchers study the Checklist validity and reliability. For validity, they used the content validity, construct validity (Confirmatory Factor Analysis), and interindividual score differences. For the reliability, the researchers used internal consistency, and test re-test reliability. Which The results showed that the SCL-90-R has a good validity and reliability coefficient. The checklist was administered to (625) subjects, (283) male and (342) female to develop T score norms for male and female separately. Finally, the results showed significant differences between male and female in every primary scale, Global Severity Index (GSI), Positive Symptom Total (PST) and Positive Symptom Distress Index (PSDI) in advance to females.
This study recommends using this checklist in psychological centers and to conduct another study to standardize this checklist for adolescent’s population.
