The Effectiveness of a program for school activities in science to develop some life skills for female students of sixth grade in Riyadh.
This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of a program for school activities in science to develop some life skills for female students of sixth grade in Riyadh.
To achieve the objectives of the study, the content of the “Life operations” unit has been analysed to determine the health life skills contained therein, then a program of school activities was setup, in addition to a teacher guide to implement these activities, after that a life- skills test was built.
The study sample consisted of (70) female students in one of the elementary schools in Riyadh, it has been divided into two groups; the experimental group of (36) student studied the proposed program, and the control group of (34) students studied in the traditional manner, the experiment done during the first quarter of the school year 1436- 1437h.
Findings of the study were as follows:
1- There are statistically significant differences at level (.05) between the degrees average in the experimental and control groups in the health life- skills test as a total, favoring the experimental group.
2- The proposed program of health life- skills is effective for the sixth- grade female students.
The study recommended that school managemt should apply curricular and extracurricular activities in primary education, moreover, school should support extracurricular activities in order to help teacher to apply it without any problems
