Impact of the six-hat strategy on collection and decision-making in teaching methods for third-year students in education colleges
Abstract
The study aims to recognition the effect of the Six- Hats strategy in achievement and decision-making in the “Teaching Methods subject” for the third grade students at the faculties of Education. The researchers adopted experimental research. The sample of the study consists of (70) students (males and females) from the third grade at the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the university of Anbar. The sample was divided into two groups, the experimental group consisted of 35 students who had studied via Six- Hats strategy, and the control group consisted of 36 students who had studied via traditional method. Then the researchers had statistically parity between the two groups for the variables (chronological age, examining previous information, decision-making scale). To achieve the goal of the research, the researchers formulated a set of behavioral goals for the scientific- material to be studied in the experiment, then they prepared teaching plans for the experimental group according to the strategy of the six hats, and according to the traditional method of the control group. The researchers prepared an achievement test consisted of (50) objective items of type (multiple choice), and decision- making scale consisted of (41) items of three level Likert scale. The reliability and validity were extracted for both scales. One of the researchers taught the two groups, and after finishing the experiment, the results revealed that there were statistical significant differences at (α= 0.05) in the mean scores of the experiment group which was 41.78 that had taught via Six- Hat strategy, and the mean scores of the control group was 35.05 which had taught via traditional method in the achievement test, and in decision- making scale the mean scores of the experimental group was 78.30, while the mean scores of the control group was 61.45. it is obvious that the differences are in favor for the experimental group. In light of the results of the research, the researchers recommended a number of things, including the adoption of the strategy of the six hats in teaching due to its impact on achievement and decision-making.
