The Need of Yemeni Universities for a Preparatory Year to Guarantee the Quality of their Inputs – Amran University as a Model
Abstract:
: This study aimed to explore the extent to which universities need a preparatory year, and to introduce them; their objectives and importance to Yemeni students and universities; how to activate them by benefiting from regional and international experiences.
The study used a descriptive method. The researcher used some tools to collect the data, such as the survey, comprehensive analysis of primary and secondary sources on the subject. Researches, archives, documents, and electronic survey were also used by the researcher where all what related to the problem of the research was extracted, its questions and answering them, achieving its objectives, the interpretation and analysis of the information, drawing their implications, highlighting the similarities and differences between them, and using them to improve the inputs of Yemeni universities.
The study concluded that the preparatory year should be considered as an optimal option to address the problem of low secondary output and reduce the gap between it and the requirements of university education in order to guarantee the quality of the university’s inputs. In the light of the findings, the study presented a number of recommendations and suggestions in the form of a draft of the preparatory year program in the Yemeni universities

الملخص
وفي ضوء النتائج أوصى الباحث بضرورة اعتماد السنة التحضيرية كخيار أمثل لمعالجة مشكلة تدني مخرجات الثانوية، وتقليص الفجوة بينها وبين متطلبات التعليم الجامعي، وبما يضمن جودة مدخلات الجامعة، كما تم تقديم جملة من التوصيات والمقترحات؛ على هيئة مشروع استراتيجية مقترحة للسنة التحضيرية في الجامعات اليمنية
