The Impact of Using Interactive Videos on Developing Scientific Concepts
in Science for 9th Grade Female Students in Jeddah
Abstract:
This study aimed to measure the effect of using interactive videos in teaching scientific concepts for 9th grade female students in Jeddah. The sample of the study consisted of 60 female students from 9th grade. 30 of the students represented the experimental group and the rest of the students represented the control one. The experiment was applied during the second semester of the 2016/ 2017 school year. The students in both groups took the pre-test before the study. After teaching the experimental group using the interactive videos، both groups took the post-test. The researcher used Independent Sample Test “T” to calculate the average score of the two groups after teaching with interactive videos. The researcher also used eta-squared (h) to measure the effect of the video in teaching scientific concepts for 9th grade students. The results showed that interactive videos represent a highly effective method to teach scientific concepts for 9th grade with regard to the three levels of remembering، understanding and applying. The study recommends using the interactive videos method used in this study to develop the science curriculum for students in 7th، 8th، and 9th grade.
