The extent in which students in the first grade at middle school in the city of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia achieved critical thinking skills in mathematics
Abstract:
The study aimed to explore the extent to what first graders at middle school achieved critical thinking skills in mathematics In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve the objectives of the study, The study used the descriptive approach ,the researcher designed news to measure the level of students in four skills of critical thinking skills are: Setting priorities , and sequence , and explication , and Conclusion, The problem of the study was determined by answering the following main question: what the extent did first grade at middle school students of critical thinking skills required in mathematics?
The study found that the degree of ability of students in the first grade in the middle school of critical thinking skills in mathematics amounted to 35.66,In relation to the skills-related results, the calculation averages were as follows: prioritization 43.83,The sequence is 35.83, the explication is 32.83, and the Conclusion is 35.66.This result did not reach the level of 50.00 which is the satisfying ability.
The study recommended the need to review the educational contents included in the mathematics book for the first grade in middle schools , to include topics and mathematical issues that develop critical thinking. To make training courses for teachers to familiarize them with critical thinking, skills, application and positive dimensions of learning and education
